As part of an easter egg found in Mega Man 7, holding the shoot and jump buttons while selecting Shade Man's stage will change his normal stage music to a rendition of the first stage theme from Ghosts 'n Goblins. This easter egg doesn't work if accessing the stage after Shade Man is defeated, however. This theme also appears as Shade Man's stage theme in the fighting game Mega Man: The Power Battle.

The initial forest area of Shade Man's stage is also based on the first stage of Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts, closely imitating the stage's first half. Shade Man's stage features mechanical dried trees that resemble the ones in Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts, as well as two enemies inspired in enemies from this stage: the Astro Zombieg is a robot zombie that comes out of black coffins that rise from underground, identical in appearance (except they are mechanical) and behavior to the Zombie enemies, and the Gilliam Knight (an enemy that transforms into a wolf when under the moon) resembles and acts like the Weredog enemy.

All the rescuable Reploids located in Blizzard Wolfgang's stage are named after characters from other Capcom franchises. Rescued Reploid #16 is named "Arthur" after the Ghosts 'n Goblins protagonist.

Three sets of downloable content featured in Mega Man Powered Up are inspired by the Ghosts 'n Goblins series.

The first was released on May 4, 2006. "Knight Roll" is one of several costumes the player can obtain for Roll, which alter her appearance and weapon but make no changes to gameplay. Knight Roll appears wearing medieval armor and her broom is changed to a lance in a clear nod to Arthur's appearance and standard weapon. To make the reference more blatant, the costume's description includes a nod to the 2nd entry in the series, Ghouls 'n Ghosts: ""Cool, huh? With this, I'm not afraid of Dr. Wily, ghouls, or even ghosts!".

The second pack was released on August 3, 2006. The "Ghosts 'n Goblins St. Pack!" is an assets pack for use in the game's Construction mode, where the player can create their own stages. The pack introduces stage elements based on the first stage from Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts, "The Execution Grounds": it includes a graveyard background with twisted trees, hanging posts and piles of skulls, platforms shaped like skulls and Tower Demons and ground tiles designed after the ruins featured in the original stage. The stage's original music is also available for use.

The third and final pack was released on September 7, 2006. Titled "Ultimate GnG Action!", it's a Fire Man-exclusive custom stage using the Ghosts 'n Goblins assets pack. The stage was created as a way to promote the upcoming release of Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins.

Mega Man Universe[]

The cancelled game Mega Man Universe was set to include a number of guest characters from other Capcom properties, but only two such characters were confirmed before its cancellation: Ryu from Street Fighter and Arthur from Ghosts 'n Goblins.

There were no details revealed about Arthur's appearance or gameplay style, as he only appeared in the reveal cinematic teaser, which didn't use any in-game footage. Arthur appeared there wielding his iconic lance and using it as a throwing weapon, which is probably how he'd have attacked in-game.

As part of a celebratory event, players were able to engage in a special stage and fight against Arcade Man, the winning character from a Robot Master design contest held earlier in the year. During the battle Arcade Man attacks by shooting images from the Arcade screen on his chest, the images in question being small sprite-like forms of Arthur from Ghosts 'n Goblins, SonSon from the eponymous game and the P-38 Lightning from the 194X series.

The original concept art also shows Arcade Man displaying a screenshot of Ghouls 'n Ghosts in his Arcade screen, and an sketch shows an original concept for his attack would have seen him throw Arthur's lance off his screen.

Sonic Universe #78 is the 9th part of the Archie crossover Worlds Unite event between their Sonic and Mega Man comic series, which features a number of franchises from Sega and Capcom joining the casts of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Boom, Mega Man and Mega Man X in a multiversal crisis headed by Mega Man X's arch-nemesis Sigma. This issue, titled Infinite Possibilities, marks the formal introduction of several Capcom and Sega franchises into the plot, including Ghosts 'n Goblins.

Ghosts 'n Goblins is the second world visited in the comic book. The story opens up in Astaroth's castle as Arthur is about to face his arch-enemy before Astaroth sends in Firebrand to deal with him instead. At that point two Mavericks from Mega Man X (Zain and Geemel) appear from a portal, closely followed by Zero and Bunnie Rabbot. After dealing with the Mavericks Bunnie explains the current situation and Astaroth decides to strike a truce with Arthur in order to face the greater threat of Sigma, and even orders Firebrand to join him in the battle. From this point forward, Arthur and Firebrand remain a part of the good guys team until the end of the crossover event.

Besides Arthur, Astaroth and Firebrand, Arthur's Princess is also mentioned briefly as she's captured once again. While she makes no appearance in the event itself, she can be spotted in one of the larger cover variants.
